Treatment For Acne.

As was noted in the post before this one, there are different causes of the acne ailment and so the best treatment is highly dependent on whether one knows the root cause of the acne itself. This has resulted in physicians and patients alike using different approaches when it comes to treatment of acne - be it the spots or the scars.

Before delving into the various forms of treatment of Acne Vulgaris, let us take a look at a few points that people with acne infections need to take note of.

1. You do not need to "over-wash" yourself just because you have acne. Washing yourself twice a day is enough in most cases. It is however important to note also that the usage of very cold water to wash yourself can worsen acne.

2. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansing granules and stuff like that when washing yourself. Use soft washcloth instead.

3. Do not scrub hard when washing acne-infected skin. You cannot clean off blackheads just by scrubbing hard on it. You will only make it worse.

4. Antiseptic washes are advisable and are quite beneficial to the treatment of acne -infected skin.

5. If in the course of treatment you develop dry skin, use fragrance free, water based moisturizing cream. Avoid the use of ointments or oil-reach creams as they are bound to to clog the pores even more.

Having taken note of all of the above-mentioned points, we can now move on to the various treatment options for acne.

There are two major aims of treating acne. One is to clear spots as much as one can while the other is to prevent scarring as much as possible.

As mentioned earlier, there are different types of treatment and they depend largely on the severity and type of acne. Treatments can be topical (treatment applied directly to the skin) or / and tablets / creams.

In some years past, people had to rely on painful forms of treating acne such as "Dermabrasion" which involves virtually the sanding of your top layer of skin in order to remove acne scars.

Luckily these days, one does not have pass through such an agonizing procedures as there are more modern means of carrying out such treatments even when they are correspondingly a bit more expensive. They are aptly called "micro-dermabrasion".

Aside from these two forms of treatment of acne, there some other less painful and much more affordable options such as the "Chemical Peels" which people are using every day to safely and quickly remove a few top layers of the skin.

We shall discuss these and a few other forms of treatment in our next post.
